About M&E Shady Rest Cottages

We have been a family business for over 30 years and are located on the shores of Lake Simcoe, approximately 45 minutes north of Toronto off Highway 11.  We are half way between Barrie and Orillia of the 5th Line of Oro-Medonte. 

We are situated on 200 feet of beautiful waterfront, overlooking Lake Simcoe.  The cottages all have a magnificent view of the lake.  Our morning sunrise is breathtaking.  A 30 foot cedar hedge surrounds the property and the cottages are nestled amongst pine, birch and maple trees.  Enjoy our evening gatherings around the fire pit, gazing up into the stars. 

The fresh water lake is suitable for all types of water sports, such as swimming, fishing, boating and water skiing.  While staying at our cottages, you have the use of our two beaches, canoe, row and paddleboat, and our two person barracuda. 

Our bright and cozy, well kept, year round housekeeping cottages contain 2 bedrooms, fully equipped eat-in kitchen and living room, most with a wood burning fireplace.  A lovely closed in sitting porch to enjoy the spectacular view.  Picnic tables, BBQ, and high speed internet are included for your pleasure. 

There is a general store, pizza and ice cream parlour three minutes up the road.  The Triple Drive-In Theatre is located one concession over on the 4th Line. 

Simcoe County is a golfers Mecca, with many fine golf courses, including the prestigious Barrie National Pines and Horseshoe Valley.  For the outdoorsman, there are numerous sites and areas for hiking, walking, and biking.  Hardwood hills is less than 10 minutes away.  Car lovers, and antique shoppers, check out Burl’s Creek – it is only 5 minutes away. 

If you wish to explore city life, both Barrie and Orillia are only 10 minutes away. Enjoy their live theatre, restaurants, and of course shopping.  Yes, even Casino Rama and Georgian Downs Race Track and Casino are close. 

Wasaga Beach, the world’s largest fresh water sandy beach, featuring a water park, go-kart racing and a zoo is only 30 minutes west of us.
